Hymns
And Home-Sweet-Home
By Dennis Goodwin

The devil smiled up at
That Lincoln County
home,
He knew death held the
winning hand.
Shouts turned to shots
As the feuding gunmen
fought
And old Satan pulled the
strings
While they took their
final stand.
Yes, the devil made 'em
dance
In that Lincoln County
home,
As they reaped the
bitter crop
Of the seeds they had
sewn.
But off in the corner,
In a world of her own,
Sweet Susan played hymns
And Home-Sweet-Home.
Sweet Susan was the wife
of
A lawyer...bound to die,
As death filled their
home to the brim.
But with danger
everywhere,
Rock of Ages filled the
air
And Susan fought away
her tears
As she played her
favorite hymns.
Yes, the devil pulled
the strings
In that Lincoln County
home.
Made 'em dance to the
beat
Of his fiery metronome.
But off in the corner,
In a world of her own,
Sweet Susan played hymns
And Home-Sweet-Home.
Yes off in that corner,
In a world of her own,
Sweet Susan played hymns
And Home-Sweet-Home.
